3、henomenonfromtheperspectivesofrhetoric,semantics,pragmaticsandsociolinguists.Asaresult,achievementsinthestudyofeuphemismhavebeenconspicuous.Thus,onthebasisofothers’researches,thisthesisattemptstodoananalysisofpragmaticfunctionsofEnglishandChineseeuphe

6、vulgar,oratleastinconsiderate.Butincommunication,forbettermaintainingsocialrelationshipandexchangingideas,peoplehavetoresorttoakindoflanguage,whichcanmakedistastefulideasseemacceptableorevendesirable.Thistypeoflanguageisdefinedas“euphemism”inlinguisti
