2、ofenzymesofanthocyaninbiosynthesisincludingPAL,CHIwerestudiedinthepericarpofPyruspyrifoliaAoguanandMantianhongduringtheperiodofpigmentformation.TheresultsdemonstratedthatthelevelofanthocyaninofAoguanwashigherthanthatofMantianhong.AbstractAoguanandMantianhong,highestanthocyaninconcentrationsof

3、twovarietiesappearedinimmaturefruitandfadedtowardharvest.Meanwhile,similarchangingtrendsofactivitiesofPALandCHIwerealsoobservedinbothvarieties.AoguanhasaloweractivityofPALthanMantianhong,whereasactivityofCHIinAoguanwashigherthanthatinMantianhong.ActivityofPALdecreasedduringtheperiodofpigmentf

4、ormationandwasapparentlynotlimitingtoAbstractcolordevelopment,whereasCHIactivityincreasedatthesameperiodandwascloselyrelatedtothesynthesisofanthocyanin.IntroductionRedpearfruitarefavoredbyconsumersandarepricedhigherthangreenfruit.Therefore,cultivatingredpearfruithasbecomeanimportantaiminpearb

5、reeding.Inthepast,onlylimitedredpearbreedvarietieswereavailablesuchasPyrusussuriensisMaximandPyrusbretschneideriRehd.Inrecentyears,HuobaPyruspyrifoliaectredsandpearshavebeenfoundinYunnanandSichuanprovincesinChina.IntroductionWang(1997)bredMantianhongectredsandpearsthroughcrossbreedingusingHuo
