3、rentregionsbecauseofthedifferenceofterrainandclimate.ThereforeitisofgreatsignificancetoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenChinesefolksongandenvironment,todividetheareasofthecultureofChinesefolksong,andtoindicatethecharacteristicsofregionalfolksonginChina.Firstofall,basedon
4、reviewofsomestudiesonfolksongfromtheviewpointofgeography,usingthemethodofCultureGeography,thispapernotonlypointsoutthehistoricalbasisinthedevelopmentofChi-nesefolksong'sculturalareas,butalsodiscussessomeintegratedmodelsofthecultureoffolksong.Theau-thorspointoutthatthetho
5、ughtsofChinesefolksong'sgeographicalsubareaexistedeversinceEmperorHuang'sera.Then,onthebasisofsomethoughtsofdivisioninfolksong'sculturalareas,theauthorsdivideChinesefolksong'sculturalareasintosevendistricts,includingthestyleofwateryregionrepresentedbyJiangnanDitty,thebol
6、dandunconstrainedstylerepresentedbynorthernworksong,thestyleofnorthwesthighplateaurepresentedbyXintianyouandHuaer,thestyleofsouthwesthighplateaurepresentedbyfolksongofYunnan,GuizhouandSichuanprovinces,thestyleofnorthernprairierepresentedbylongmelody,thestyleoffolksongofX
7、injiangprovince,andthatinsnowfieldofhighermountain.Ontheonehand,theau-thorsbelievethatthisdivisiondraftofcultureareaofChinesefolksongisrelativeanddynamic,andthatitchangeswiththenumberofselectedfactors,thesizeofinvestigatedareasandthelengthofstudyperiod.Ontheotherhand,the
