3、ighbours.ThefindingsthrowupintriguinginsightsintonewnationalstereotypesinthewakeoftheEurozonecrisis,whichhasseenGermanytakealeadingroleinimposingunpopularausteritymeasuresonthestrugglingeconomiesofsouthernEurope.Everyone,includingtheBritish,agreedthattheGerman
4、swerethemosttrustworthypeopleintheEU,apartfromtheGreeks,whoawardedthemselvesthataccolade.ThetraditionalantagonismbetweentheUKandFranceisreflectedinthesurvey,withBritonsjudgingtheirneighboursovertheChanneltobetheleasttrustworthyandthemostarrogant.Thepollhighlig
5、htedaninternalconflictamongtheFrench,whoconsideredthemselvestobeboththeleastarrogantandthemostarrogantcountryinEurope.AllEuropeansthinkthattheirowncountryisthemostcompassionate,andnearlyeveryonejudgestheGermanstobetheleastcompassionate,althoughbothFranceandGer
