2、okingbackoverthepast50yearsofChina'spolicytowardtheUnitedStatesandthehistoryofSinoUSrelations,thetwosideshavebothsharpoppositionandsincerecooperation.TherehavebeenmanyupsanddownsintheSinoUSrelationsafterthecoldwar,buttheSinoUSrelationshavenotbrokendown,butdeepene
3、d.ThedeepreasonisthattherearemanycommonstrategicinterestsbetweenChinaandtheUnitedstates.TheUnitedStatesisthelargestdevelopedcountryintheworld,andChinaisthelargestdevelopingcountryintheworld,andbothcountriesbeargreatresponsibilityforthesituationinAsiaandtheworld.I
4、nthenewinternationalsituation,betweenChinaandtheUnitedStatesonmanymajorissuesofglobalandregionalwithcommoninterests,thereisabroadbasisforcooperation,SinoUSeconomiccooperationprospectsarelimitless.Therefore,lookingaheadtothetwenty-firstCenturySinoUSrelationship,we
5、havereasontoexpresscautiousoptimism.Ofcourse,thenegativefactorsaffectingtherelationsbetweenthetwocountriescannotbeignored,suchashumanrights,trade,armssalesissueandtheTaiwanissue,theTaiwanissueconcernsChinese'ssovereigntyandterritorialintegrity,isthebiggestobstacl
6、etoinfluencetheimprovementanddevelopmentofSinoUSrelations,ismostlikelytoleadtosensitiveissuesofSinoUSdirectconflict.However,aslongasthetwosidestostandintheheightofhistory,withastrategicvisiontodealwithSinoUSrelations,SinoUSonthebasisofthe3jointcommuniquetoexamine
7、andhandletheTaiwanissue,SinoUSrelationswillmoveforwardsmoothlyonahealthytrack.SinoUSrelationsareoneofthemostimportantbilateralrelationsintheworldtoday.Historically,therearemanyfactorsthataffectSinoUSrelations,suchastheinternationalpattern,economicandideological,g
