3、),palmtops,handhelddevices,smartphonesandmobilephones.Allovertheworldwirelesstechnologiesaretakingoverfromwiredtechnologies.664.5mobilephoneswereshippedin2004;over50%ofallemployeesspenduptohalfoftheirtimeoutsidetheoffice;worldwidemobilecommercereached$200billionin2004;multi-pur
4、posehandhelddevices(PDAsandtelephone)willoutselllaptopanddesktopcomputerscombinedby2005.Nearlyallhigher-educationstudentsinEuropeusemobilesintheireverydaylives.However,thesestudentsdonotusethemforeducation,asituationthatisnowbeingaddressedbytheLeonardodaVinci,EuropeanCommission
5、-fundedMobileLearningproject.http://learning.ericsson.net/mlearning2/Inthisproject,mobilelearningwasmadeavailableinitiallyonPDAs.Thisdevelopmenthasnowbeenfollowedbymobilelearningonsmartphones.TheOperabrowserhasbeenadoptedanddevelopmentnowtakesplaceinXHTMLratherthanWML.Theresult
6、isdynamicpageswithinteractivityandmuchgreaterinterestforthestudentcanbeproduced.2.THEDEVELOPMENTOFMOBILELEARNINGFORSMARTPHONESMobilelearningistheprovisionofeducationandtrainingonPDAs(PersonalDigitalAssistants)/palmtops/handhelds,andonsmartphonesandonmobilephones.Anumberofmobile
