2、startofthe2017/18academicyeardrawsnear.RecentdebatesovervisaandimmigrationpolicyhaveraisedconcernsamongU.S.highereducationinstitutionsregardingthedesireandabilityofinternationalstudentstotraveltotheUnitedStatesfortheireducation.Thisreportpresentsfindingsfromanationa

3、lsurveyofU.S.highereducationinstitutionstogaugewhethershiftshaveoccurredintheadmissionsyieldofinternationalstudentswhohavebeenacceptedtoacademicprogramsstartinginFall2017.Intheadmissionsfield,yieldreferstotheenrollmentratesofadmittedstudents.Calculationsofyieldserve

4、asausefultoolforhighereducationinstitutionstotracktheprogressoftheiradmissionsrecruitmentandenrollmentprocesses.ThesurveyfindingsdescribedinthisreportbuilduponasimilarjointinternationalapplicationssurveyconductedinMarch2017togaugeshiftsinapplicationsreceivedfrominte

5、rnationalstudentsatU.S.highereducationinstitutions.Thatstudy–ledbytheAmericanAssociationofCollegiateRegistrarsandAdmissionOfficers(AACRAO)inpartnershipwithfourU.S.highereducationassociations–foundamixedpicture,with38percentofsurveyedinstitutionsindicatingadecreasein

6、internationalstudentapplications,36percentseeinganincrease,and26percentseeingnochangecomparedtotheprioryear(AACRAO,2017).Asafollowuptothepreviousjointsurvey,inMay2017IIEagainpartneredwithAACRAO,theCouncilofGraduateSchools,theNationalAssociationforCollegeAdmissionCou

7、nseling(NACAC),andNAFSA:AssociationofInternationalEducatorstoconductasurveyofU.S.highereducationinstitutionthatfocusedonthenextstepsintheadmissionsprocess–offersofadmissionandyieldrates.Informationwasalsocollectedontheconcernsofinstitutionsregardinginternationalstud
