3、formulasareadoptedtodeterminethelateralpressureexertedonconcreteincircularconcrete-filledsteelcolumns.Toevaluatethelateralpressureexertedontheconcreteinboxandoctagonalshapedcolumns,FEManalysisisadoptedwiththehelpofaconcretesteelinteractionmodel.Subsequently,anextensiveparametricstudyiscondu

4、ctedtoproposeanempiricalequationforthemaximumaveragelateralpressure,whichdependsonthematerialandgeometricpropertiesofthecolumns.Lateralpressuresocalculatediscorrelatedtoconfinedconcretestrengththroughawellknownempiricalformula.Fordeterminationofthepost-peakstressstrainrelation,availableexpe

5、rimentalresultsareused.Basedonthetestresults,approximatedexpressionstopredicttheslopeofthedescendingbranchandthestrainatsustainedconcretestrengtharederivedfortheconfinedconcreteincolumnshavingeachtypeofsectionalshapes.Thepredictedconcretestrengthandpost-peakbehaviorarefoundtoexhibitgoodagre
