3、yandproliferationofcruisemissilestounfriendlynations.LincolnLaboratory’sresponsetothevariousoffense/defensetrade-offshastakentheformoftwoprograms,theAirVehicleSurvivabilityEvaluationprogramandtheRadarSurveillanceTechnologyprogram.Theradardevelopmentsproducedbythesetwoprograms,w

4、hichbecamenationalassetswithmanynotablefirsts,isthesubjectofthisarticle.,DefenseAdvanceResearchProjectsSystemsCommandandtheOfficeofNavalResearch)IAgency(DARPA)requestedthatLincolnLabo-begansponsorshipofaLincolnLaboratoryprogram,ratorydevelopandleadanewprograminairde-com

5、plementarytotheAVSEprogram,whichwasfenseagainstcruisemissiles.TheinitialfocusoftheoriginallyfocusedontheU.S.ship-baseddefenseworkatLincolnLaboratorywastoquantitativelyas-againstforeignantishipcruisemissiles.Themajorde-sessandverifythecapabilityofU.S.cruisemissilestovelopmentoft

6、hisprogram,calledRadarSurveillancepenetrateSovietairdefenses.TwoprincipalareasofTechnology,wastheRadarSurveillanceTechnologytechnologicalconcentrationemergedfromthisstudy:ExperimentalRadar(RSTER).Recently,theRSTER(1)understandingandmodelingtheenvironmentalmissionwasmodifiedtoad
