4、ttoinventedtheinternalcombustionengine,gasolinewasnotavailable.Ethylalcoholat180-190proofwasthespecifiedfuel.Themodel"T"Fordwasdesignedtorunontheavailablecrudegasolines,alcohol,oranycombinationofthetwo.Alcoholsingeneralandethanol,inparticular,makeexcellentmotor

5、fuels.Thereasonalcoholfuelhasnotbeenfullyexploitedisthat,upuntilnow,gasolinehasbeencheap,available,andeasytoproduce.However,crudeoilisgettingscarce,andthehistoricpricedifferentialbetweenalcoholandgasolineisgettingnarrower.Currentlythereisabigpushtofindanddevelo

6、palternativesourcesofenergysothatdwindlingreservesofcrudeoilandotherfossilfuelsmaybeconserved.AsEdwardTeller,oneofthiscountry'sleadingphysicistspointsout:"Nosingleprescriptionexistsforasolutiontotheenergyproblem.Energyconservationisnotenough.Petroleumisnotenoug
