SpecimensofthevetigastropodsPleurotomariaDefrance,1826andPyrgotrochusFischer,1885,fromtheJurassicofEnglandwereseparatedintothreemorphologicalgroupsandsurveyedfortracesofshellrepair.Twomeasureso
2、fshellrepairfrequencieswerecalculated:1)ratioofthenumberofspecimenswithatleastonerepairedinjurytothetotalnum-berofspecimens;2)ratioofthetotalnumberofinjuriestothetotalnumberofspecimensinthesample.ThePleurotomariaanglica(Sowerby,1818)groupcontaininglarge,highspiredtrochiformshellssho
3、wedthelowestrepairfrequencywith28.8%and75.3%,respectively.TheshellrepairfrequencyinthelowspiredtrochiformPleurotomariaactinomphalaDeslongchamps,1848groupwas44.4%and81.0%,respectively.Lastly,thePyrgotrochusgroupcon-tainingconoidaltrochiformshellsshowedthehighestfrequencycalculatedbyb
4、othmethods,46.2%and92.3%.Threetypesofinjurieswerefoundinallmorphologicalgroups,althoughindifferentproportions.BreaksacrosstheentirewhorlconstitutethemajorityofrepairedinjuriesinshellsofthePleurotomariaanglicagroup;intheP.actinomphalagroupthefigureisabout50%andinPyrgotrochusonly35%.T
