4、AbstractComponentsofwindenergyconversionstructuresarecharacterisedbyarelativelycomplexgeometry,showingalargevarietyinshapeandplatethickness.Theseparticularsmakethefatiguestrengthassessmentratherdifficult,especiallyifthecommonnominalstressapproachbasedonstandardnotchcasesisappl

5、ied.Localapproachescanhelpovercomethesedifficulties.Thehot-spotorstructuralstressapproachisparticularlywellsuitedinviewofthelargenumberofdifferentdetails,especiallyofweldedstructuralcomponentsandtheshorttimeavailableforstructuraldesign.Forboltedconnectionsnominalstressapproach

6、isfavourablewhereasacorrectconsiderationoftheclampedpartsandtheeccentricforceattackisofvitalimportance.Withregardtopracticalapplication,twoweldeddetailshavebeeninvestigatedconcerningthenumericalevaluationofhot-spotstressesandtheirassessmentwithrespecttofatiguestrength.Furtherm
