3、eskillorvisionofthoseinhighoffice,butbecauseWethePeoplehaveremainedfaithfultotheidealsofourforebearers,andtruetoourfoundingdocuments.
Soithasbeen.SoitmustbewiththisgenerationofAmericans.
Thatweareinthemidstofcrisisisnowwellunderstood.Ournationisatwar,againstafar-reachingnetw
4、orkofviolenceandhatred.Oureconomyisbadlyweakened,aconsequenceofgreedandirresponsibilityonthepartofsome,butalsoourcollectivefailuretomakehardchoicesandpreparethenationforanewage.Homeshavebeenlost;jobsshed;businessesshuttered.Ourhealthcareistoocostly;ourschoolsfailtoomany;andeachd
5、aybringsfurtherevidencethatthewaysweuseenergystrengthenouradversariesandthreatenourplanet.
Thesearetheindicatorsofcrisis,subjecttodataandstatistics.Lessmeasurablebutnolessprofoundisasappingofconfidenceacrossourland--anaggingfearthatAmerica'sdeclineisinevitable,andthatthenextge
