3、ionbooks,andthemanagementandpsychologyliteratures.Inthecurrentarticle,weproposeatwo-stagetheorythatisgroundedingenderstereotypingtoaccountforthisnarrative.Inthefirststage,wedrawfromtheoriesofsocialcomparisonandin-groupdistancingtoofferplausiblereasonsforwhywomen’ssame-sexrelationshipsatworkmight

4、bemorefraughtwithinterpersonalconflictthanmen’s.Inthesec-ondstage,wesetasideconsiderationofpossiblegenderdifferencesinsame-sexconflictfre-quencyanddrawfromattributiontheorytoproposethatfemalesame-sexconflictismoreproblematizedbythirdpartiesthanmalesame-sexconflict,whichcouldproducetheexagger-ate
