2、eengine.Therearetwobasictypesofautomatictransmissionbasedonwhetherthevehicleisrearwheeldriveorfrontwheeldrive.Onarearwheeldrivecar,thetransmissionisusuallymountedtothebackoftheengineandislocatedunderthehumpinthecenterofthefloorboardalongsidethegaspedal

3、position.Adriveshaftconnectsthetransmissiontothefinaldrivewhichislocatedintherearaxleandisusedtosendpowertotherearwheels.Powerflowonthissystemissimpleandstraightforwardgoingfromtheengine,throughthetorqueconverter,thentroughthetransmissionanddriveshaftu

4、ntilitreachesthefinaldrivewhereitissplitandsenttothetworeartransmission.Onafrontwheeldrivecar,thetransmissionisusuallycombinedwiththefinaldrivetoformwhatiscalledatransaxle.Theengineonafrontwheeldrivecarisusuallymountedsidewaysinthecarwiththetransaxletu

7、steadofsidewaysandthereareothersystemsthatdriveallfourwheelsbutthetwosystemsdescribedherearebyfarthemostpopular.Amuchlesspopularrearandisconnectedbyadriveshafttothetorqueconverterwhichisstillmountedontheengine.ThissystemisfoundonthenewCorvetteandisused
