3、ebecomeconcernedthatimposedstandardsmightrequiredifficultandexpensivemodificationsthatwouldmaketheirproductslesscompetitiveinthemarketforhome-heatingequipment.Theclaimismadethatasubstantialreductionintheairpollutionproducedbyawoodstovecanbemadebyaslightmo
4、dificationofmoststovesandbyinformingwoodstoveusersofbettermethodsforoperatingtheirstoves.Asaresultofconcernsovertheimpactofsuchregulation,onewoodstovemanufacturerhasundertakenresearchtodeterminewhatproductoroperationalmodificationswouldminimizetheairpollu
5、tionproducedbyitsbrandofwoodstoves.Theresearchinvolvedthemeasurementofparticulatematter,asobservedbyaphotoelectriccell,shownbythegasesventingoutofawoodstovechimney.Thismethod,usedinconjunctionwithameasureofairflownoutofthestack,providedarelativemeasureofp
