3、dehisdebutasawriterin1787whenhepublishedasonnetinTheEuropeanMagazine.ThatsameyearhebeganattendingStJohn'sCollege,Cambridge,hedevelopedakeenloveofnatureasayouth.andreceivedhisB.A.degreein1791.HereturnedtoHawksheadforhisfirsttwosummerholidays,andoftenspentlaterholida
4、ysonwalkingtours,visitingplacesfamousforthebeautyoftheirlandscape.In1790,hetookawalkingtourofEurope,duringwhichhetouredtheAlpsextensively,andalsovisitednearbyareasofFrance,Switzerland,andItaly.InNovember1791,WordsworthvisitedRevolutionaryFranceandbecameenthralledwi
5、ththeRepublicanmovement.HefellinlovewithaFrenchwoman,AnnetteVallon,whoin1792gavebirthtotheirchild,Caroline.BecauseoflackofmoneyandBritain'stensionswithFrance,hereturnedalonetoEnglandthenextyear.Thecircumstancesofhisreturnandhissubsequentbehaviourraisedoubtsastohisd
6、eclaredwishtomarryAnnette,buthesupportedherandhisdaughterasbesthecouldinlaterlife.TheReignofTerrorestrangedhimfromtheRepublicanmovement,andwarbetweenFranceandBritainpreventedhimfromseeingAnnetteandCarolineagainforseveralyears.1793sawWordsworth'sfirstpublishedpoetry
7、withthecollectionsAnEveningWalkandDescriptiveSketches.Hereceivedalegacyof£900fromRaisleyCalvertin1795sothathecouldpursuewritingpoetry.In1797WordsworthmetSamuelTaylorColeridgeinSomerset.Thetwopoetsquicklydevelopedaclosefriendship.Wordsworthandhissister,Dorothy
