2、Thequestionisalong-termtrend,firstaskedintheU.S.bythePewResearchCenterin1994andgloballyin2002.Respondentshadanoptiontonotanswerthequestion(theycouldvolunteer“don’tknow”orrefusetoanswerthequestion).Respondentsdidnotgetanyfurtherinstructionsonhowtointerpretthequestion
3、andnosignificantproblemswerenotedduringthefieldingofthesurvey.Theterm“homosexuality,”whilesometimesconsideredanachronisticinthecurrentera,isthemostapplicableandeasilytranslatabletermtousewhenaskingthisquestionacrosssocietiesandlanguagesandhasbeenusedinothercross-nat
4、ionalstudies,includingtheWorldValuesSurvey.Forthisreport,weuseddatafromasurveyconductedacross34countriesfromMay13toOct.2,2019,totaling38,426respondents.ThesurveyswereconductedfacetofaceacrossAfrica,LatinAmericaandtheMiddleEast,andonthephoneinUnitedStatesandCanada.In
5、theAsia-Pacificregion,face-to-facesurveyswereconductedinIndia,IndonesiaandthePhilippines,whilephonesurveyswereadministeredinAustralia,JapanandSouthKorea.AcrossEurope,thesurveywasconductedoverthephoneinFrance,Germany,theNetherlands,Spain,SwedenandtheUK,butfacetofacei
