3、tacceleratedinthe1950s.-Plasticsbeganappearingintheearly1960swithvariousfoamsreplacingcorrugated,rubberizedfiber,andwood-basedproductsasinteriorpackaging.FunctionsandGoalsofDistributionPackagingThefunctionsofdistributionpackagingcanbesummarizedasfollows:ContainmentProtecti

6、lexpendituresand60%ofdistributionpackagingcosts.-Ithasbeenestimatedthatalthoughactualfreightclaimspaidbycarriersfordamaginggoodsisapproximately$2billion,theactualcosttothemandtoshippersisreallymorethan$10billionperyear.-Ourgoalinpackagedesignistominimizethecostofbothpackag
