3、,heformedhisparticularpoliticalideaandwritingstyle.HebeganhisresearchesonAHistoryofNewYork,writtenunderthenameofDiedrichKnickerbocker.AHistoryofNewYorkcameoutin1809,thuswonhimwidepopularity.LifeExperienceWashingtonIrvingwasengagedtomarryMatildaHoffmann,whodiedon
4、April26th,1809attheageof17.Irvingneverbecameengaged,ormarriedanyone.In1815IrvingsailedagainforEngland.Thusbegantoremainabroadfor17years.LifeExperienceHesettleddowninasmallvillageandbeganthewritingofTheSketchBookThebookappearedseriallyintheyearsof1819—1820.Itesta
