4、thesemi-conductordevicesarealsoreducedinthenewcontrolsystempresented.IndexTerms—Inductionmotordrives,three-levelconverter,torquecontrol.I.INTRODUCTIONThestandardvoltagesourceinverter(VSI)traditionallyusedinelectricaldrivesystemsisthetwo-levelVSI,whic
5、hunfortunatelyhasanumberofinherentlimitations.Forexample,themaximumvoltagethatcanbesupportedbythesemiconductorswitchingdevicesintheVSIlimitsthemaximumvalueofdc-linkvoltage.Furthermore,theoutputvoltagesandcurrentsfromtheVSIcancontainhighharmonicdistor
6、tion.TheoutputvoltagewaveformscanalsocontainlargevaluesofdV/dt,whichcontributetothedegradationofthemachinewindingsinsulationandbearings,andalsoproduceconsiderableelectromag-neticinterferenceduringoperation.NewmultilevelVSItopologies,however,canconsid
7、erablyreducemanyoftheselimitations[1].Themostcommonlyusedmultileveltopologyisthethree-levelneutralpointclamped(NPC)VSI[2].ThistypeofVSIhasadvantagesoverthestandardtwo-levelVSI,suchasagreaternumberoflevelsintheoutputvoltagewaveforms,lessharmonicdistor
8、tion,andlowerswitchingfrequencies.Directtorquecontrol(DTC)hasemergedtobecomeapossiblealternativetothewell-knownvectorcontrolstrategiesforinductionmotorcontrolsystems[3],[4].Althoughconsiderableresearchhasbeenmadeintothetwo-leveltopologiesassociatedwi
