3、nterfaceinCOMSOLMultiphysicsisdesignedspecificallyformodelingthesesystems.Followalongasweexplorehowtomodelrotatingmachineryanddetailbestpracticesforworkingwiththisfeature.TheGeometryofaRotatingMachineInanyrotatingmagneticmachine,therearetwoparts:thestatorandtherotor,separatedbyanair

4、gapenablingtherotor’srotation.TheRotatingMachinery,Magneticinterfaceusesthemovingmeshapproachtomodelthisrotation,asthefiniteelementmethoddoesnotsupportrotations.GeometryofaDCcommutatedmotorthatincludestwopermanentmagnetsandarotatingwinding.Themachine’sgeometryiscut(usuallyalongtheai

5、rgap)intotwoparts:onecontainingthestator,andonecontainingtherotor.Thetwopartsarethenmeshedseparately.Duringsimulation,thepartcontainingthestatorremainsstationarywhilethepartcontainingtherotormoves.Thetwopartswiththecorrespondingmeshesarealwaysincontactatthecutboundary.Thegeometrymus

6、tincludetheairregionbetweenthemagnets.Redrepresentsapossiblechoiceforthecutboundary.Bydefault,thelaststepinageometrysequenceistofinalizebyformingaunion,unitingallofthegeometricalobjectsandmeshingthemasasingleobject.Tomeshthetwopartsseparately,theobjectsmustbefinalizedbyforminganasse

7、mbly.Usingunionsandotheroperations,createasinglegeometryobjectforthestationarypartandanotheronefortherotatingpart.Then,chooseFormAssemblyinthefinalizationnodeofthegeometrysequence.Duringfinalization,anidentitypairisautomaticallycreatedunderDefinitions,identifyingthecommon(contacting

8、)boundariesofthetwoobjects.Aclose-upoftheDCmotor’smesh.Therotatingandstationarypartsaremeshedseparately,asindicatedbythedifferentpositionsofthemeshnodesonthetwosides.Theboundarieshighlightedinbluearecollectedinanidentitypair.Duringrotation,themeshesslideoneachother,remainingincontac
