3、lpingtoprotectthevulnerableandsparingmanyfamiliesthepainalreadyfeltbythosewhohavelostlovedones.TogetherwearetacklingthisdiseaseandIwanttoreassureyouthatifweremainunitedandresolute,thenwewillovercomeit.Ihopeintheyearstocome,everyonewillbeabletotakeprideinhowtheyrespondedtothischallenge.Andt
4、hosewhocomeafteruswillsaytheBritonsofthisgenerationwereasstrongasany.Thattheattributesofself-disciplineofquitegood-humouredresolveandafellow-feelingstillcharacterisethiscountry.Theprideinwhoweareisnotapartofourpast,itdefinesourpresentandourfuture.(applause)ThemomentswhentheUnitedKingdomhas
5、cometogethertoapplauditscareandessentialworkerswillberememberedasanexpressionofournationalspirit.Anditssymbolwillbetherainbowsdrawnbychildren.Acrossthecommonwealthandaroundtheworldwehaveseenheart-warmingstoriesofpeoplecomingtogethertohelpothers,beitthroughdeliveringfoodparcelsandmedicines,
6、checkingonneighborsorconvertingbusinessestohelpthereliefeffort.Andthoughself-isolatingmayattimesbehard,manypeopleofallfaiths,andofnone,arediscoveringthatitpresentsanopportunitytoslowdown,pauseandreflectinprayerormeditation.ItremindsmeoftheveryfirstbroadcastImadein1940helpedbymysister.We,as
