2、elawsanddecisionsofyourownage.Parliamenthassurvivedasanunshakablecornerstoneofourconstitutionandourwayoflife.HistorylinksmonarchsandParliament,aconnectingthreadfromoneperiodtothenext.So,inanerawhentheregular,worthyrhythmoflifeislesseye-catchingthandoingsomethingextraordinary,Iamreassuredtha
3、tIammerelythesecondSovereigntocelebrateaDiamondJubilee.Astoday,itwasmyprivilegetoaddressyouduringmySilverandGoldenJubilees.Manyofyouwerepresenttenyearsagoandsomeofyouwillrecalltheoccasionin1977.SincemyAccession,IhavebeenaregularvisitortothePalaceofWestminsterand,atthelastcount,havehadtheple
4、asurabledutyoftreatingwithtwelvePrimeMinisters.Oversuchaperiod,onecanobservethattheexperienceofvenerableoldagecanbeamightyguidebutnotaprerequisiteforsuccessinpublicoffice.IamthereforeverypleasedtobeaddressingmanyyoungerParliamentariansandalsothosebringingsuchawiderangeofbackgroundandexperie
5、ncetoyourvital,nationalwork.DuringtheseyearsasyourQueen,thesupportofmyfamilyhas,acrossthegenerations,beenbeyondmeasure.PrincePhilipis,Ibelieve,well-knownfordecliningcomplimentsofanykind.Butthroughouthehasbeenaconstantstrengthandguide.HeandIareveryproudandgratefulthatThePrinceofWalesandother
6、membersofourfamilyaretravellingonmybehalfinthisDiamondJubileeyeartovisitalltheCommonwealthRealmsandanumberofotherCommonwealthcountries.TheseoverseastoursareareminderofourcloseaffinitywiththeCommonwealth,encompassingaboutone-thirdoftheworld’spopulation.MyownassociationwiththeCommonwealthhast
