2、ngnewimpetusandprovidingopportunitiestoworldeconomicdevelopmentandmeanwhilemakingthevariouseconomiesmoreandmoreinterdependentandinteractive.Economyisnottheonlyelementinvolvedinglobalizationsinceitalsohasanimportantbearingonpolitics,culture,valueandwayoflife.Whilemanypeopleare
3、acclaimingthebenefitsbroughtaboutbyeconomicglobalization,therearealsoloudvoicesofopposition,sincedifferentcountriesandpeoplesdonotenjoybalancedbenefits.Economicintegrationenablescountriesbenefitfromtheboom（prosperity）ofothercountriesbutalsomakesthemmorevulnerabletotheadversee
4、ventsacrosstheglobe.Maybewecansayfewtopicsareascontroversialasglobalization.Butlikeitornot,ithasbecomeanobjectivetrendinworldeconomicdevelopment.Thebestpolicyforusistofollowthetrendclosely,availingtheopportunitiesitofferstodevelopourselvesandavoidingitspossibleimpacts.Suchwor
5、ldorganizationsastheWTO,theWorldBankandtheInternationalMonetaryFundwhichweshalldiscussinlaterlessons,are,inasense,champions(supporters)ofeconomicglobalization,whilethemultinationalcorporationsaredirectlyengagedinthetrendandtheiroperationsconstitutethemajorcontentofeconomicglo
6、balization.Someknowledgeofthemultinationalswillhelpusgainabetterunderstandingoftheglobaltrend.BeforeWorldWarⅡtherewerealreadyanumberofcompaniesthatwouldbedescribedasmultinationals.Theywere,however,comparativelysmallinnumberandscale(size).Thefirststepintheinternationalizationo
7、fbusinessaftertheWarwassimplyaveryrapidgrowthinfairlytraditionalterms,inthesensethatmoreandmorecompaniesinonedevelopedcountrysetuptheirown,orboughtoverexisting,manufacturingfacilitiesinothercountries.Asdevelopmentofsuchbusinessactivitiesgrewrapidly,theyhadnotonlybeenvariously
