3、puttingincreasingpressureonhealthcarebudgets.Forexample,inmanyindustrializednationstheelderlypopulation(thoseolderthan65)isexpectedtodoubleinthenext50years.Usually,thissegmentofthepopulationhasapproximatelyfourtimesthehealthcareexpendituresofthoseunde

4、r65years.Additionally,inmanydevelopingeconomies,theepidemiologicalprofileischanging—evolvingfrominfectiousandlessexpensivediseases,whichcanbetreatedthroughmassivenationalcampaigns,tochronicdegenerativediseasessuchascanceranddiabetes,whicharemoreexpens

5、ivetotreat.Addingtotheproblem,mostpublichealthcareprogramssupplydrugsthroughinternal,antiquatedandcomplexsupplychains.Asaresult,criticaldrugsmaynotbeavailablewhenpatientsneedthem.Thesefactors,whencombined,meanthatpublichealthcareprogramsfaceamassivest

6、ruggleinprovidingpatientswithaconsistentflowofmedicine,whilekeepingcostsdownandmaintaininghighlevelsofservice.Thispaperdiscusseswaystoimprovethemedicinesupplychainindevelopingcountries.Itoffersaseven-pointsolutiontorelievingpressureonhealthcarebudgets

7、inthesecountries,whilereducingthecostofmedicineandimprovingkeyelementsofthedrugsupplychain.ImprovingtheMedicineSupplyChainonegoalmightbetomakeessentialmedicinesPublichealthprogramscoverthehealthcareavailableandaffordabletothosewhoneedt
