3、ensubjectedtoerosion-corrosiontestingusingasilica-waterslurry.Thepolarisationcharacter-isticsofthesecermetshavebeeninvestigatedusingapotentiodynamictechnique.Thedifferencesinbindercompositioninfluencesthecermets'propertiesandcorrosionbehaviour,whichinturnaffectsthes

4、ynergisticactionoferosion-corro-sion.Theinherentcorrosionresistanceofapurenickelbinderdidnotincreasetheslurryerosionresistanceofthecermets,butthenickel-chromium-cobaltgradeswerefoundtoimprovetheerosion-corrosionbehaviourcomparedtothepurecobaltbindergrade.Comparisons

5、aremadebetweenthepropertiesandbehaviourofNi-Cr-Cobasedcermetsandpuremetalgradeswithcompositionssimilartothosefoundinthebinderphaseofthecorrespondingcermetgrades.Explanationsareadvancedtoexplainthedifferencesinbehaviourlinkedtocompositionandmechanicalproperties.©1997
