3、oforceonthedateoftheirpublicationintheofficialGazette.1.2-Definitions1.2.1:Intheserules,unlessthecontextotherwiserequires,:1.“Act”meanstheFoodSafetyandStandardsAct,2006(Act34of2006);12.“AdjudicatingOfficer”meanstheAdjudicatingOfficerappointedundersub-section(1)ofsection68oftheAct.
4、3.“Advocate”meansapersonwhoisentitledtopracticetheprofessionoflawundertheAdvocatesAct,1961(25of1961)4.“AppellateTribunal”meanstheFoodSafetyAppellateTribunalconstitutedundersection70oftheAct.5.“AuthorisedOfficer”meansanofficerauthorizedbytheFoodAuthorityreferredinthesub-section(5)o
5、fsection47oftheAct.6.“DirectoroftheReferralLaboratory”meansthepersonappointedbytheCentralGovernmentbynotificationintheofficialGazetteastheDirectorofaReferralLaboratoryandincludesanypersoninchargeoftheReferralLaboratoryorappointedbytheCentralGovernmentinlikemannertoperformalloranyo
6、fthefunctionsofdirectorunderthisAct.7.“Inquiry”meanstheinquiryreferredtoinsection68.8.“LicensingAuthority”meanstheDesignatedOfficerappointedundersection36oftheActforthelocalareaandincludesanyotherofficersoappointedforthepurposeofgrantinglicensebytheCommissionerofFoodSafety9.“Notif
7、iedlaboratory”meansanyofthelaboratoriesnotifiedbytheFoodAuthorityundersub-sections(1)and(2)ofsection43oftheAct.10.“PresidingOfficer”meansapersonappointedasPresidingOfficeroftheAppellateTribunalundersection70oftheAct.11.“Referrallaboratory”meansanyofthelaboratoriesestablishedand/or
