4、ricpathogensinyoungcalves(Tzipori,1981).However,thereisonlyonereportoftheisolationofco-ronavirusesfromthebovinerespiratorytract(Thomasetal.,1982).Thispaperdescribestheisolationofcoronavirusesfromthelowerrespiratorytractsofcalveswithrespiratorydiseaseandtheexperimentalinfectionofyoungcalves
5、withtheseisolatesviatherespiratoryroute.MATERIALSANDMETHODSAntiseraAchickenantiserumtobovineentericcoronavirus,abovineantiserumtobovinevirusdiarrhoea/mucosaldisease(BVD)virusandrabbitantiseratobovinerespiratorysyncytialvirusandparainfluenzavirustype3werepreparedandconjugatedwithfluorescein
6、isothiocyanateasdescribedpre-viously(McNultyetal.,1983).Arabbitantiserumtoastrainofbovineentericcoronavirusisolatedinbovinetracheal-organcultureatthislabor,i-torywaspreparedusingthesameinoculationscheduleasforrespiratorysyncytialvirus.Thisantiserumwasusedintheimmunofluorescencestudiesofexp
