3、areasignalsisalsogiven.Followingthis,thetechniquesusedtorepresenttheHVDCsystemforpowersystemstabilityanalysisarepresented,includingrelevantcontrolschemesandconvertercontrollers.ThemethodsofmodellingHVDClinesandmulti-terminalHVDCgridsarealsoprovided.Inadditiontothemodellingt

4、echniquespresented,toolsforpowersystemstabilityanalysisbasedonsystemlinearisationarealsodescribed.Oncethisframeworkhasbeenestablished,thedampingcontrollerdesignsutilisedwithinthisthesisarethoroughlydiscussed.Finally,adescriptionofthevarioustestnetworksusedwhilstcompletingth

5、isresearchispresented.Throughoutthisthesis,allmodellinghasbeencompletedusingtheMATLAB/Simulinkenvironment(version7.9.0,R2009b)withdirectimplementationofthemathematicalcomponentdescriptionsoutlinedwithinthischapter.2.1ModellingPowerSystemComponentsWithinthissection,themodels
