2、982)alsoprovidedthetheoreticalsupportreadinginsecondorforeignlanguageacquisitionwhicharguesforthelearnersacquirealanguagebyenoughandhigh・qutilitycomprehensibleinput.Thedevelopmentoftechnologylikefaxes,computersmakesreadingmoreimportantindailylifeandlanguagelearningoracquisition.However,thewidespread
3、ofCommunicativeLanguageTeachingnowadaysavertmoreofeducator^attentionfromreadingtospeakingallovertheworld,particularlyinAsiancountrieslikeChinawhereasreadingcomprehensionisthemostimportantandnecessarypartinallEnglishexams.ThismakesreadinginstructioninadilemmaandunpopularinmostChineseuniversitiesbecau
4、seregularclassesgenerallytendtoemphasizereadingthecoursebookassignedratherthanextensivereading.Andstudentsaretaughtinawaythatfocusondirectteachingofreadingcomprehensionandintensivereadingofshort,difficulttextscomingformassignedcoursebook,whichcausesaheavyburdenofdictionaryworkload.Bothofthetwoformso
5、freadingarenecessaryinreadinginstmctionandIwillreviewrelevantliteratureconcerningthetwoformsindifferentareas,butmuchofthefocuswillbeonextensivereadingduetoitssignificanceandweakimplementationinChina.ReadingcomprehensionforatextWhilethereaderwasoncebelievedtobeapassivereceiverofinformation,heorsheisn
