2、.Therefractorymaterialcontainedmassfractionof98%MgO,approximate!y2%Fe203,andgradedquantitiesfrom3%to18%C.Thecorrosionwasinvestigatedinmeltsofreductionladleslagsatatemperatureof1600°Cin1aboratoryconditions.Asampleofrefractorymaterialwithdimensionsof10X10X10
3、0mmwassubmergedintothemoltenslagandexposedtothecorrosiveeffectoftheslagfor60min.Aftertheexposeoftherefractorymaterialtheslagwascooleddownandsubmittedtoachemicalanalysis.AfteracomparisonoftheMgOcontentintheslagbeforeandafterthecorrosiontesttheamountofMgOcon
4、tentinthemeltwasdeterminedandthedegreeofcorrosionoftherefractorymaterialwasquantified.Theexperimentswererealisedusingfinalslagsfromtheladlefurnaco(LF),stronglyalkalineslagw(Ca0)/w(Si02)=4-43,andalsoacidicslagsw(Ca0)/w(SiO2)=0.94withdifferentcontentsofCaF2.
5、TheworkwascarriedoutwithintheframeoftheprojectsEUREKAE!3580andTMPULSFI-IM4/110.RESULTSThechemicalcompositionoftheslagsbeforetheexposureisgivenintheTable1.Table1showsthattheacidicslagcontainsverylittleoftheCaF2(w=0・82%),andthatthealkalineslagcontains1.18%Ca
