5、ersityloss,andthesearealleitherconstantorincreasinginintensityBIODIVERSITYINSOUTHAFRICAINTRODUCTIONSouthAfricaisrichinbiodiversity,itranksasthethirdmostbiologicallydiversecountryintheworld.ThusconservationofbiodiversityisSouthAfricaisimportant,notjustf

6、orthiscountrybyglobally.SAhasenactedanumberofNationalActsdealingspecificallywiththeconservationofbiodiversity.TheonewhichstandsoutistheNationalEnvironmentalManagement:BiodiversityAct,whichisaimedatimplementingtheConventiononBiologicaldiversityCOMMONLAW

7、(notmadebyparliamentorgovernment,unwrittenlaw)SAmixedlegalsystem,RomanandCommonlawReliesonResNulliusofanimals“ifananimalescapes,orisnotcapturedandkeptwiththeintentiontobecomeownertheyaredeemedtobeResNullius”.Consequencesforconservationisthatanyanimalno
