2、ementationofanewLogisticssystem,legacysatellitesystemswillremainunchangedandtoaminimumextentinterfacedtothenewLogisticsSystem.ThisapproachbuildsafoundationforfurtherimprovementsusingOracle’sproductsandservicesandisarelativelysafewaytomeetshorttermgoalsandalsosatisfylongtermstrategicobjective

3、swithacosteffectiveprogram.Oraclealsorecognizesthecomplexityinbuildinginterfaceswithanumberoflegacysystems,andrecommendsHONGKONGTELECOMworkwithOracleincreatingtheseinterfacesinarapidtimeframe.Option1Phase1LogisticsoftheBusinessSupportSystemwillbepositionedasthecoreelementofHongkongTelecom’si

4、ntegratedinformationsystemwhichwillallowLogisticsoperationalanalysisandforecastingatboththemanagementandoperationallevel.ThecoreoftheOption1Phase1solutionistheOracleDistributionapplicationsmodules.Theseapplicationsoftwaremodulesare“offtheshelf”applicationswhichsupportthebusinessactivitiesofO

5、rderManagement,Purchasing,SupplyChainPlanningandDistribution.TheseapplicationshavebeenbuiltusingstandardOracleDeveloper/2000onOracleRDBMS.Surroundingthiscorepackagewillbeaminimumsetofcustomextensionstosupportagreeduponfunctionalitygapsnotsupportedbytheproposedapplications.Initiallythesegapsw
