2、sustainabilityindicatorforbridgesisdurabilitywithitseffectonlifecyclecostsforanintendedservicelifeofabout100years.(2)Durabilityisproducedbyvariouselementsincluding‐asustainabledefinitionoftheservice‐conditionincludingthebridgeloading,‐choiceofthebridges

3、ystem,itsstructuralandnon‐structuralcomponentsandproductsandappropriatedetailingalsoconsideringfatigue,‐designandexecutionforaqualityofstructurethateffectsdurability.(3)ThereforethisreportdoesnotfocusonlyondesignrulesinEurocode3,butalsocomprisestheother

4、elementsoftheEuropeanStandardFamilyaffectingdurability,amongstwhichEurocode3playsanimportantrole.(4)AccordingtothegeneralconceptoftheEurocodesthesecodesconsistofaEuropeanpart(theEN‐codes)andNationalAnnexestotheEN‐codes,thatcomplementthe“harmonized”Europ

5、eanEN‐codesby“Nationalchoices”.(5)InconclusionthepracticaldesignofabridgeonacertainterritoryisnotpossiblewithouttheuseoftheNationalAnnexvalidforthatterritory.(6)ThechoicesthatarecontainedintheEurocodescomprisethefollowing:1.Nationalresponsestoopeningnot

6、estoEurocoderulesthatincludetechnicalclassesorfactorsrelatedtosafety,climatic,culturalandotheraspects(seeGuidancePaperL“UseandapplicationofEurocodes”).2.Responseto“informativeannexes”withtechnicalrulesandsetsofalternativetechnicalrulesinthemaincode‐text

7、forwhichnoagreementcouldbeachievedduringthecode‐writingphaseandfromwhichCEN/TC250expectseitherNationalacceptanceorbetterfoundedNationalAlternativesthatcould1beusedbyCEN/TC250forfurtherharmonisationoftherulesandthereductionofcomplexityandvolume.3.“Noncon

8、flictingcomplementaryinformations”,(NCCI´s)thatcompriseNationalchoicesofadditionaltechnicalrulesnecessaryforfillinggapsintheEurocodesandtomakethemfullyoperable.FromtheseNCCI´sCEN/TC250expectsimportantimpulsesforthefurtherdevelopm
