1、IntroductionAfterWorldWarII,moderntourismhasrosesharplyandquicklydevelopedsince1960s.From1950to1998,internationaltouristsdramaticallyincreasedfrom25,282,000passengersto635milliononeswiththeaverageannualgrowthof7.0%(Hu,2001).However,currently,theseriousproblem,intourismindustry,isthelimiteddestinat
2、ionresourcesunderthehighpressurefromtheincreasingnumberofglobaltourists.Therefore,sustainabilityisanimperativetorespondtothetourismchallenges.SustainabletourismTheconceptofsustainabilitybasesonalong-termdevelopmentinsteadofshort-termbenefits.Additionally,economic,environmentalandsocialsustainabili
3、tyarethethreebasicelementsofrealsustainability.However,inthepast,manycountriesgiveprioritytothedevelopmentofshort-termbenefitsignoringthedamagetotheenvironment,especiallythedevelopingcountriessuchasChinaandIndia.Thereforesomeissueswouldoccursuchaspollutionproblemsintourismdestinationsand"holidaytr
4、avelblowout"phenomenon(Hu,2001).Currently,withenhancingawarenessofprotectiveenvironment,sustainablepracticeshavebecomeeasilyadoptedtothepublic.Forexample,thesolarwaterheaters,akindofreducingenergypractices,aremoreflexibleandwidelyaccepted.Itiscontroversialforthepublictocontributetosustainabletouri
5、sm.Basedonsomeliteraturesaboutsustainabletourism,raisingenvironmentalawarenessisawaytomaketourismmoresustainable(Dolnicar,Crouch,&Long,2008).Johnson(2006)statesthatraisingawarenesstightrelevantwiththechangingbehaviors.Forexample,recyclingtarget,reducingenergyandwaterconsumptionhavebeenappliedinhot
6、elsandairlines.However,infact,therewere1%passengersgivingtheprioritytoconsidertheenvironmentintermsofoutgoingholidaysbookingintheUK(Miller,2010).Actually,majorityofpassengersaresuperficialenvironmentalistswhogivetheprioritytotheprofitablethingsforthemselves.Intermsofgreaterawarenessofsustainableto
7、urism,itiseffectivetotendtobeonthetangibleinfluencessuchaslitteringinsteadoftheintangibleonesofglobalwarming.Therearethreeconceptsrelevantwithsustainabletourismdestinationsincludingcarryingcapacity;destinationman
