3、ystacksandvehicleexhausts,tosqueezemoreusefulenergyfrompowergeneration.Thetechnologytodosohasexistedforyears.Ifoneendofanelectricalconductorisheatedwhiletheotheriskeptcool,asmallvoltageiscreatedbetweenthetwo.Placingtwodissimilarmetals,orotherelectricallyconductivemater

6、erit”ofathermoelectricsubstance,whichdescribesthepoweradevicemadeofthatsubstancecouldgenerate.DrKanatzidis’sgroupaimstomakematerialswithhigherfiguresofmeritthanthoseattainablewithtoday’ssemiconductors.Sincetheelectricalpropertiesofsolidsdependontheircrystalstructures,h
