2、istdoesnotincludewordsthatareinthemostfrequent2000wordsofEnglish.TheAWLwasprimarilymadesothatitcouldbeusedbyteachersaspartofaprogrammepreparinglearnersfortertiarylevelstudyorusedbystudentsworkingalonetolearnthewordsmostneededtostudyattertiaryinstitutions.TheAcademicWordL

3、istreplacestheUniversityWordList.SublistsoftheAcademicWordListEachwordinitalicsisthemostfrequentlyoccurringmemberofthewordfamilyintheAcademicCorpus.Forexample,analysisisthemostcommonformofthewordfamilyanalyse.BritishandAmericanspellingisincludedinthewordfamilies,socontex

4、tualiseandcontextualizearebothincludedinthefamilycontext.Sublist1containsthemostcommonwordsintheAWL.Sublist2containsthenextmostcommonwords,andsoon.Thereare60familiesineachsublist,exceptforsublist10whichhas30.Sublist1oftheAcademicWordList29analyseanalysedanalyseranalysers
