4、bservationhasbeenmadethatorganisationsarefacinganewcontextcharacterizedbyincreasedcompetition,increasedratesofproduct,serviceandprocessinnovationandanincreasingemphasisontimetomarket.Organisationshaverespondedtothesechallengesbydevelopingnew,moreflexibleorganisationalforms[1]inwhichprojec

5、tsarebothmorenumerousandmorestrategicallyimportant[2].AspartoftheresponsetothesenewchallengesandaspartofthemovementtoincreaseboththenumberandthestrategicimportanceofprojectsmanyorganisationshaveimplementedaneworganisationalentitythemostcommonnameforwhichistheprojectmanagementofficeorPMO.T

6、hePMOhasbeenaddressedextensivelyintheprofessionalliterature[3-5].However,therehasbeenverylittletheoreticalorempiricalresearchonthetopic.Inaddition,thisorganisationalinnovationhasnotbeenexaminedextensivelywithintheliteraturestreamdescribedabove・1.Recentsurvey-basedresearchonPMOsArecentsurv
