2、iety”(qtd.inYu,Genyuan,2001:1).Atthesametime,onekindoflanguage,whichisquitedifferentfromthecommonalsoappears.Thatisnetworklanguage.Itissaidthat“therearemanyindicationsoftheinter-relationshipbetweenlanguageandsociety.Whilelanguageisprincipallyusedtocommunicatemeaning,itisalsousedtoestablishandmaint
3、ainsocialrelationship”(Dai,Weidong,2009:111).Inotherwords,languageandsocietyinfluenceeachother.Languagecomesintobeingwhentheneedarises;whenthesocietychanges,languagealsochanges.Consideredasakindofvariantoflanguage,networklanguagehasitsownfeaturesandhistory.Atpresent,moreandmorecommonpeopleusenetwo
4、rklanguagetocommunicatewithothersontheinternetorindailylifeafteritsappearanceanddevelopment,whichtosomeextent,seemstobetrendyandinteresting.Thereisnodoubtthatnowadaysalargenumberoflinguistsandscholarsallovertheworldhavepaidmuchattentiontoitandachievedalot.Byinvestigationsandanalysis,theylooksatnet
5、worklanguagefromdifferentperspectives.DavidCrystalisoneoftheworld’sforemostauthoritiesonnetworklanguage.Inhisbooklanguageandtheinternet,hetriestoilluminateinternetfromthelinguisticperspective.Accordingtohim,Inrecentyears,theInternethascometodominateourlives.E-mail,instantmessagingandchatarerapidly
6、replacingconventionalformsofcorrespondence,andtheWebhasbecomethefirstportofcallforbothinformationenquiryandleisureactivity.Buthowisthisaffectinglanguage?TheInternethasencouragedadramaticexpansioninthevarietyandcreativityoflanguage.CoveringarangeofInternetgenres,includinge-mail,chatandtheWeb,thisis
