4、ember1939themanuscriptofthelectureswasdrasticallyrevisedandabeginningwasmadeonrewritingitinbookformforpublication.Atalaterdate,althoughhewasthenmainlyoccupiedwithTheNewLeviathan,Collingwoodfoundtimetorevisehisworkalittlefurther,notablythesectiononHegel,andhethensubstitutedtheshortconclud

5、ingpassageonthetransitionfromNaturetoHistoryforthesketchofhisowncosmologywhichhadclosedtheoriginalleduresandwithwhichhemayhavebecomedissatisfied.Athisdeaththemanuscripthadbeen'completelypreparedforpublicationdqwntotheendofPartI,ChapterI,butnofarther.Nevertheless,littleeditingoftheremaind
