3、nhasledmetoanewunderstandingoftheroleoftherationalitypremiseineconomicsandofabuddingeconomictheoryofthehumanbrain.Thereare,however,severalgoodreasonsforcautioninsidingwiththebehavioristsonallcriticalfronts,eveniftheirresearchfindingsonpeople’sdecisionbiasesandirrationalitiesareconfirmedtimeandagai
4、n.Letmecounttheways.Presumably,withinthebehaviorists’methodology,thebrainisnothingmorethanablackboxthatmakesdecisionsandhaslittle,ifany,internalinterestinadjustingtofeedbacksensorydatathatemergefromdecisions.Thatis,wrongdecisions,andthesensorydatathatareboundtoemergefromthem,arenotcauseenoughforth
5、ebraintoadjustdecisionstothescopeoftheexternaldataconsidered,thewaysinwhichexternaldataarerecombinedwithalreadystoreddata,ortheextenttowhichdecisionsareshiftedfromtheprimitiveandlimbicsystemtothefrontalcortex.Nomatterhowserioustheflawsinpastdecisions,behavioristsoftenoverlookwaysinwhichpeople–thro
6、ughtheirbrains–canadjustpastdecisions,thereportederrantdecisionsaretheendofthesurveysorexperiments.Theunstatedpresumptionisthatthebrainhasnointerestincorrectingitsownmistakesandisperfectlycontenttocontinuetosystematicallymakeallidentifiederrors,evenwhenthebrainlearnsthatitandthebodyitinhabitswould
