2、n,alsoknownasSemiVOST).Section8.1ofMethod0010addressespreparationofMethod0010traincomponentsforanalysiswithverylittledetail.1.2Althoughthissamplepreparationtechniqueisintendedprimarilyforgaschromatography/massspectrometric(GC/MS)analysisfollowingMethod8270,theextractspreparedaccordin

3、gtothismethodmaybeusedwithotheranalyticalmethods.TheMethod0010samplingtraincollectssemivolatileorganiccompoundswithboilingpointsabove100EC.Someofthesesemivolatileorganiccompoundsmaynotbeamenabletogaschromatographyandwillrequiretheapplicationofhighperformanceliquidchromatography(HPLC)

4、forquantitativeanalysis.TheuseofHPLCcoupledwithmassspectrometry(HPLC/MS)isananalyticaltechniquethatmayalsobeapplied.Asolventexchangefrommethylenechloridetoamorepolarsolventsuchasacetonitrileorextractionwithasolventotherthanmethylenechloridewillprobablyberequiredforsuccessfulapplicati

5、onofHPLCtechniques.SomesemivolatileanalytesmayrequirederivatizationforsuccessfulGC/MSanalysis.1.3ThismethodisrestrictedtousebyorunderthesupervisionofanalystsexperiencedintheextractionandconcentrationofsemivolatileorganiccompoundsfromthecomponentsofMethod0010trains.Eachanalystmustdemo
