2、adoptedbytheBureauofIndianStandards,afterthedraftfinalizedbytheFireFightingSectionalCommitteehadbeenapprovedbytheCivilEngineeringDivisionCouncil.Thisstandardwasfirstpublishedin1960andrevisedin1977andsubsequentlyin1987.Alotofdevelopmenthastakenplaceinthefieldofcivilaviation.Largeran

3、dfasteraircrafthavebeenintroducedbesideseverincreasingfrequencyofaircraftmovements.Thetrendistowardsstilllargerandfasteraircraft.Thishasnecessitatedtheuseoflargecapacityfirefightingappliancesforaircraftcrashfirefighting,whichshallbefastmoving,haveahighrateofdischargeandshallrequire

4、theminimumofcrewforutilizingfullcapabilityofACFT.Producingfoam,whiletheapplianceisinmotion,isalsoadesirablefeatureofthepresentdayappliances.Anotherdevelopmentoftheaircraftcrashfirefightingtechniqueisincreasedrelianceontheuseofmonitor(s)forinitialattack,theuseofhand-linesbeingrelega

5、tedtoextinguishresidualsmallfiresorlicksofflame;soilandterrainataerodromes,however,requirethathand-linesarealsocapableofproducingaminimumcombineddischargerateof2000l/rein,sothatfireextinguishingoperationsarenotimpededincircumstanceswheretheappliancecannotapproachcloseenoughtothecra

6、shedaircrafttoenablethemonitor(s)tobeused.Drychemicalpowderisbeingusedascomplimentaryextinguishingmedium.Halon1211hasbeendeletedduetoitsozonedepletionpotential(ODP).However,suitablesubstitutelikeHaltron-1mayalsobeused.ThefourthrevisionhasbeentakenupontherecommendationoftheMinistryo

7、fDefenceandAirportsAuthorityofIndiatobringthestandardinlinewiththelatestdevelopmentsattheinternationallevelasindicatedabove.AlistofaccessoriesandequipmentwhichdonotformpartofthisapplianceandmostofwhicharenormallyrequiredtoassistinoperationoftheapplianceisgiveninAnnexBforinformation
