3、(primarilysmallsplit-typeheatpumps)everyyear.Thepeanresearchprojectonthestudyandmanufacturingofauseofair-conditioningunitsinsummercausespeakelectricsmall10kW(about3ton)prototypesolar-assistedabsorptionloadsthatperiodicallyresultinpowershortagesinlarge

4、areasheatpumpcoupledwithafloorheatingandcoolingsystem.ofmetropolitancities,suchasAthens,inordertomaintaintheThesecondpartreviewsthecurrentactivitiesinaEuropeanstabilityofthenationalpowersystem.Forexample,themostprojecttoperformacomparativestudyofEurop

5、eanandrecenteventwasduringtheheatwaveatthebeginningofJulynationalR&DanddemonstrationactivitiesonsolarA/C,in92000at14:00,whenthepeakloadreached8250MW(28⋅10termsofenergy-savingpotentialandcostperformance,toBtu/h).InSpain(Pereiraetal.1995),thepowerdemand

6、forairpromotetheirfuturegrowthandmarketintegrationandtoconditioningexceeds10GW(34⋅109Btu/h).Actually,inidentifyfutureneeds.Thethirdpartreviewsthecurrentactiv-southEuropeancountries,thereisawell-establishedconnec-itiesinaprojectsupportedbytheInternatio

7、nalEnergyAgencytionbetweenthegrowthofpeakpowerelectricitydemandin(IEA)onsolar-assistedairconditioningofbuildings.summerandthegrowthofair-conditioningsalesinthesmall-andmedium-sizedmarket.INTRODUCTIONEnergyconsumptionincommercialandresidentialbuild-The

8、factthatpeakcoolingdemandinthesummerisasso-ciatedwithhighsolarenergyavailabilityoffersanopportunityingsrepresentsapproximately40%ofEurope'senergybudgettoexploitsolarthermaltechnologiesthatcanmatchcooling(EC2000).Thisisallocatedforsatisfyingthe
