2、stentwiththePrinciplesforFoodImportandExportInspectionandCertification.2Theyareintendedtoassistcountries3intheapplicationofrequirementsandthedeterminationofequivalency,therebyprotectingconsumersandfacilitatingtradeinfoodstuffs.42.Thedocumentdealswiththerecognitionofequ
3、ivalenceofinspectionand/orcertificationsystemsandnotwithstandardsrelatedtospecificfoodproductsortheircomponents(e.g.,foodhygiene,additivesandcontaminants,labellingandqualityrequirements).3.Applicationbygovernmentsoftheguidelinespresentedinthisdocumentshouldhelpbuildand
4、maintainthenecessaryconfidenceintheinspectionandcertificationsystemofanexportingcountryandfacilitatefairtrade,takingaccountoftheexpectationsofconsumersforanappropriatelevelofprotection.SECTION2-DEFINITIONSAuditisasystematicandfunctionallyindependentexaminationtodetermi
5、newhetheractivitiesandrelatedresultscomplywithplannedobjectives.5Certificationistheprocedurebywhichofficialcertificationbodiesandofficiallyrecognizedbodiesprovidewrittenorequivalentassurancethatfoodsorfoodcontrolsystemsconformtorequirements.Certificationoffoodmaybe,asa
6、ppropriate,basedonarangeofinspectionactivitieswhichmayincludecontinuouson-lineinspection,auditingofqualityassurancesystems,andexaminationoffinishedproducts.5Equivalenceisthecapabilityofdifferentinspectionandcertificationsystemstomeetthesameobjectives.1TheCodexGuideline
7、sfortheDesign,Operation,AssessmentandAccreditationofFoodImportandExportndInspectionandCertificationSystemswereadoptedbytheCodexAlimentariusCommissionatits22Session,1997.TheyhavebeensenttoallMemberNationsandAssociateMembersoftheFAOandWHOasanadvisorytext,anditisforindivi
