3、ionwillnevermaketranslationvividpossible.Inthesecondplace,Sonnet18waswritteninEarlyModernEnglishincludingwordssuchas“thee”,“art”,“thou”,“hath”,“sometime”and“thy”(William21).I“Thee”and“thou”bothhavethesamemeaning,arethesameasthewordweuseforyounowadays,“thee”isaccusative,otheroneisnominat
4、ive.Itisnecessaryfortranslatorstohavemasteryofthebasicrulesofgrammar.Inthethirdplace,LiangShih-chiu’stranslationofSonnet18isclosetooriginal,buthistranslationisslightlyinferiorthanDaiLiuling’sinartisticconception.Noneofthemhasadoptedthemethodofdirecttranslationafterall.Inthefourthplace,O
