4、basedonpreventivechecks,insteadofimmorallyincreasingthedeathrate.Hisprincipleofpopulationwasgenerallyacceptedandunderstoodbysocietyaftertheglobalpopulationboominthelatetwentiethcentury.Thus,IwillexaminethecontributionsofThomasRobertMalthusinacriticalway.BeforeMalthustherewerenotanyeconomi
5、canalystsordemographerstoinvestigatethemutualinfluencebetweenpopulationgrowthandeconomicdevelopment.Malthusproposesthatthereisaninverserelationshipbetweenpopulationchangeandeconomicgrowth・Excessivepopulationgrowthwillleadtoeconomicdecline;theeconomicdownturncanleadtopopulationreduction.Th
