3、uteitsfluorescenceenergywithinitsemissionspectralrange,anditsspontaneousemissionspectrumthusgetsmodified.Here,westudiedtheinfluenceofchangeinlocaldensityofstatesonenergytransferefficiencybetweenadonor−acceptorpairembeddedinacolloidalphotoniccrystal.Rhodamine-BandRhodamine-8

4、00dyeswerechosenastheenergydonorandenergyacceptor,respectively.Weobservedanangle-dependentquenchingintheemissionintensityofthedonoraccompaniedbyenhancementinacceptoremissionwhenbothdyeswereinthephotoniccrystal.Thisoccurredowingtodepletionintheallowedlocaldensityofstate

5、savailabletothedonor.Reductioninthefluorescencelifetimeofthedonorinthepresenceoftheacceptorconfirmedfluorescenceresonanceenergytransferbetweenthechromophores.Inspiteofmarginaloverlappingbetweentheemissionbandofthedonorandtheabsorptionbandoftheacceptor,theenergytransfereffic

6、iencybetweenthedyeswas∼80%inthephotoniccrystalenvironment.Thisenhancementresultedfromforcedproximityandhencereducedintermoleculardistancebetweenthedonorandacceptoronbeingphysicallyrestrictedwithinnanovoidsofthephotoniccrystal.1.INTRODUCTIONdepletedforthisspecificwavelen
