3、double-floweredclonwhichhecallsH.distichavar.Kwanso,andinanotherbutunnamedtype.BothBellingandTakenakaagreethatthetriploidnumberintheplantstheystudiedis33andtheirassumptionisthattherearethreesetsof11each.Takenakaalsoreportsadiploidnumberof22forplantsofH.flava,which
4、isinagreementwiththenumberreportedbyNawaschin(seeTischler,1927),andforplantsconsideredasH.aurantiacaBaker,H.MiddendorffiiTraut.andMey.,H.distichaDonn,H.longitubaMiq.,andH.minorMiller.Aratherextensivesurveyofthechromosomenumbershasnowbeenmadebythewriter"forthespeci
5、es,severalclonalvarieties,andvariousseedlingsofHemerocallisassembledatTheNewYorkBotanicalGardenwhichshows(1)thatasomaticnumberof22chromosomesistheruleforallspeciesofthegenus,(2)thattriploidyexistsinseveralofthecultivatedclonsoffulvousdaylilies,and(3)thatdiploids,t
